RAMping Up!

RAMping Up! is an optional, supplemental transition program sponsored by the Robinson PTSO for rising 7th graders who will be attending Robinson in 2019-2020 and would like additional support with the transition.  Many students do not attend RAMping Up, but it is available for those who would like to attend. Robinson Middle School also holds a Student and Parent Orientation for all rising 7th graders and new 8th graders (Thursday, August 22) where students have a chance to find their classrooms and meet their teachers, and the Gold Rush (Friday, May 17 - student social and Parent informational event for rising 7th graders). RAMping Up! is led by middle school counselors and teachers, and involves:

Core Curriculum Overview & Goal Setting
Use of Digital Resources
Practice of Self-Advocacy Skills
Block Schedule Review & Agenda Planner Use
Building Navigation & Locker Practice
Collaborative & Team Building Activities

 

RAMping Up! also provides a smaller setting to become familiar with the school and helps students meet some staff and new students so they will have more familiar faces at the start of school.

 

Registration is expected to begin  the first week of April 2019.  Announcements with a registration link will be posted on the Robinson website and sent through feeder elementary schools to families of current FCPS students.

 

There will be three sessions of RAMping Up! held in 2019. Each session will run from 8:00 to 12:00 on the first two days (no lunch) and until 12:30 PM on the third day (which will include an optional pizza lunch and building tours for new parents). Parents must provide transportation to and from Robinson.

 

SESSION 1: JULY 29 - JULY 31 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday)
SESSION 2: AUGUST 1 - 2, AUGUST 5 (Thursday, Friday, Monday)
SESSION 3: AUGUST 6, 7, 8 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)

 

Participants receive a small snack daily, pizza lunch on the third day, and a RAM t-shirt.

 

We hope to be able to accommodate all interested students, but once registration is available, sign up early to get your choice of dates.  

 

The session fee is $50, but scholarships are available (indicate scholarship need during registration).
